Aniseed lemon delight

LOVE this new recipe, too bad I don’t know the translation for one of the typical dutch ingredients. It’s called ‘gestampte muisjes’ (flat mice:)) and is a combination of aniseed and sugar, used on bread.


1,5 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
4 tbsp gestampte muisjes
2 tbsp anise seed
1/2 cup milk
2 tbsp karnemelk or buttermilk (not the same, but works anyway)
50 gr butter
1/2 cup sugar (or use a bit less and add agave syrup or something else
1 egg
1 tbsp lemon zest

Mix together the flour, powder, soda, salt, muisjes and anise seed. In another bowl, mix butter and sugar. Then add the egg and lemon zest and mix it all together. Add the dry ingredients and the milk/buttermilk in turns.



Bake in the oven for about 25 min (175c/350f).
